Class Descriptions

Peace and Quiet:
This gentle yoga class is a slow flowing Hatha Yoga class with gentle transitions between postures. Calming sequences combine breath, postures, and relaxation and are designed to open the body, build strength, and soothe the spirit. These classes are great for anyone who wants to increase strength and flexibility, improve self- awareness, and reduce stress.

Beginner Yoga:
This is an introductory 4-week session for students who are new to Power Yoga. Emphasis is given to the basic alignment of standing postures.

Present Power:
This class focuses on refining the standing postures and learning basic sitting postures, basic back bending poses, and the shoulder stand. It will offer a balance of strength, flexibility, and endurance to challenge the fitness enthusiast. It is recommended that students complete Beginner Yoga before taking power yoga classes.

Prana Power:
This advanced class continues with refinements to poses studied in Present Power and introduces full arm balance (handstand), headstand, and forearm balance. Additional back bend poses are also included. Regular yoga practice outside of class is strongly encouraged. Permission of the instructor is required.

Soul Flow:
Postures flow in a vinyasa style from one posture to the next with the breath and leads to a great cardiovascular routine. Postures are not held as long as the power yoga classes.

Community Flow:
Is our way of giving back to the community. This class is open to yogis of all levels and abilities and is more of a Peace and Quiet or gentle yoga class. Yoga instructors vary for this class so it’s also a great way to get to know our teachers and experience their individual styles of instruction. Instructors volunteer their time for this class and we ask of you to donate $5 toward a local charity.

YogiMama:
Is a unique class for moms-to-be to enjoy caring for their bodies and babies while practicing postures and breathing techniques that will help with delivery and post-birth recovery.

Little Buddhas:
Is for the energized 2-4 year olds that are ready to play, sing songs, dance and use their imagination through yoga themes (such as strength, friendships, and a healthy body).

Karma Kids:
Is for children ages 5-8 that are learning to become more independent and will be able to experience yoga through a structured class that encourages creativity and self exploration.

PreSpirit:
Is specially made just for middle school students ages 9-12. This class is intended to enhance self-awareness, boost self-esteem, and decrease stress while building strength and flexibility. Traditional yoga poses and flowing sequences, promote strength and flexibility in a non-competitive environment; breathing, relaxation training, and self-reflection activities help to decrease stress, improve self-awareness and improve overall mind/body balance and concentration. The skills learned in this class are intended to extend far beyond the yoga studio. Students will also learn how to apply these skills specifically to academic, athletic, and social situations.

MyOM:
This class geared specifically for teens will help to promote strength, flexibility, individuality and self-esteem. Yoga helps developing athletes build strength and flexibility, provides a good workout for those teens looking to try a new activity, and will help to reduce stress and anxiety by using deep breathing to increase body awareness. This yoga class is appropriate for students of all levels and abilities.

Express De-Stress:
Is for the busy yogi who wants to keep up their practice but is short on time. This 1/2 hour class is designed for those who want to create time in their work day to de-stress and re-energize before returning to their busy lives.

Young at Heart:
This class is specifically designed for the wise members of our community. It includes gentle stretching and breathing as well as simple movements designed to systematically increase the range of motion of every major joint and increase energy. This class is ideal for seniors with chronic symptoms such as muscle/joint pain, stiffness, weakness, or fatigue. *Please note that modifications (such as the use of chairs) can be made in this class. Members should also note that the studio is located upstairs and is not currently accessible by elevator.

Strollercise & Mommy and Me:
Is an enjoyable class for Mom’s to fit in exercise with other moms along the Putnam River Trail and end the walk with a guided yoga class for both moms and children to reap the benefits of yoga together.

Yoga Therapeutics:
This class is designed for individuals with limited function, chronic pain or mental/physical disorders that could benefit from mild exercise/movement as approved by their medical practitioner. Breathing, relaxation, self-exploration, stretching and strengthening specific to individual needs will be instructed in the form of restorative yoga.

Beginner's Run & Yoga:
Is a class for those looking to start running and learn pace, form, training techniques and yoga postures specific to runners.

OMWork:
Is offered onsite or at the InsideOut Wellness Studio and is geared toward relieving stress in the middle of the day so that you can return to work refreshed and feel more energized to do things after work.
